矿区主要由东西向压性断层及与之伴生的近南北向张性断裂、北东和北西向扭性断层组成。区内褶皱构造主要有金厂峪复背斜及崔堡子复向斜,并伴有次一级小的背、向斜。金厂峪金矿床位于前述的复背斜轴部。
控矿构造以北北东向压扭性断裂最发育,表现形式为片岩带或片理化带。矿区内共有6条,片岩带的形态和交汇部位往往是控制单个矿体的主要构造。
矿区含金复脉带是由石英脉、钠长石英脉、钠长石脉、次生石英岩等断续分布于片岩带中。长1500m、宽460~900m,在本矿床6个复脉带中共圈出大小16个工业矿体。矿体多集中于Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ带中。以Ⅱ2、Ⅲ3、Ⅳ4矿体最富,Ⅱ5规模最大。金矿平均品位10.6g/t。
